You Wait Ages For One...

………then they all come at once!

After the bone dry start to the spring which provoked a hosepipe ban, followed by rain, rain and more rain, I’d all but given up on seeing any butterflies this year. However, in the last fortnight I’ve had more Peacocks, Red Admirals and Tortoiseshells on my buddleia than I ever thought possible! In a bid to prolong the buddleia flowering season I snipped off all the dead flowers and watered them thoroughly, which has given them a new lease of life. Right now, when it’s dry outside I can stand there and enjoy a festival of colour and beauty. I’ve seen a few Cabbage Whites and a couple of Painted Ladies, but as yet no Commas or hedgerow butterflies – but hopefully they’ll be along soon….
