The minute there’s an official drought warning, inevitably the heavens will open and a flood alert will become imminent! A whole month’s rainfall fell out of the sky within just a few minutes, and although this means a temporary end to having to carry a heavy watering can in and out of the house, it’s left my small suburban garden looking rather soggy. The petunias have fared quite badly, with their flowers all tattered and torn by the torrential downpour, but the good news is that the lavender shrub in the border has finally bloomed.
